When a mod (who wasn't even a part of the conversation) doesn't like that you see things differently and instead of trying to discuss things like the Pol forum was supposed to be for, they just ban you instead! No rules were broken, just rustled jimmy jannies. Seven days though, sheesh. Well, see y'all then.

The way you "see things differently" is that you're spreading misinformation. There is literally no evidence that dogs are being killed, only that they are being sent to animal shelters where they can be accommodated for by staff there. That's behaviour that goes against the politics forum my guy.

Like I said, it was a threat that was being made against the convoy protestors. Recognizing this is not a bannable offense.

@TailsPrower They're threatening to euthanise animals "not suitable for adoption", which already happens all the time in regular shelters. If the animal can't find a home, then it's going to have a pretty miserable time living out the rest of its life in the shelter, and so it will be euthanised. https://www.thecountersignal.com/news/ottawa-police-may-euthanize-truckers-pets-as-punishment

The way I see it, here's how it is set up to play out:
1. Trucker gets arrested for protesting
2. Trucker cannot take care of pet because in jail
3. City takes pet to municipal shelter where it might or might not be put down or adopted by someone else

@TailsPrower Yes... because the pet can't look after itself alone at the house

Which leads me to my other point, a peacefully protesting trucker isn't breaking any laws and shouldn't be arrested in the first place so the city's official statement shouldn't have even been made in the first place.

@TailsPrower A lot of them were blaring horns downtown 24/7, deeply disturbing people's lives. I'd say they ought to be disciplined for that

People who sympathized with progressive protests often say that protests are supposed to be disruptive. Now it's the other side doing it for what they believe in and people cry foul.

@TailsPrower Yeah, double standards in the leftist media are a bitch. Doesn't mean the convoyers get a free pass, though.

Either way, the point of this post is to highlight the double standard in the moderation. This isn't the first time I've been banned for doing nothing wrong.

@TailsPrower Fair enough, though the language you used was pretty hyperbolic and so I understand why they might have misinterpreted it

I've had to repeatedly clarify that a "threat" is not the same as an "action performed" as others were trying to home in on. I can't do anything about someone who demonstrates a refusal to read what I'm saying carefully and then go on misinterpreting.

@HavryloThePigeon ...and then ban me for it.

@TailsPrower I think the issue was that you made it sound like that was the main threat being made. All I was able to find was a couple words by the Ontario Humane Society that animals would be euthanised if they couldn't find any homes for them. That was just something they said because, well, that's what happens at any normal animal shelter so of course they needed to clarify it. To say the police at large were "threatening to kill their animals" is pretty misleading

Main threat? I called the offical statement *a* threat. And petty and scummy. What other threat was mentioned?

"To say the police at large were "threatening to kill their animals" is pretty misleading"

I did not mention the police at all. The threat is far more subtle than that, but carries the same implications which from a psychological standpoint is quite effective. There's a difference between saying "they're going to kill your pets if you keep protesting" and "there's a chance your pet might die if you keep protesting."

As such, there was no issue. I know what I said and none of it was offensive, misleading, or bannable.

@TailsPrower Alright well sorry if I'm misremembering what you said, frankly I'm too tired to go back and check everything that was said. In any case I agree with you that you shouldn't have been banned over this, seems pretty trivial and petty for the mods

For what it's worth, I appreciate you being civil and respectful, you've surpassed me in that regard here. If only more people could handle discussion like this. I'm sure I'll continue to be banned for similar frivolities.

He banned me again for seven days, @TomFulp needs to remove TurkeyFucker as a mod

What did he ban you for?

You have been temporarily banned from posting to the BBS for 7 days, 4 minutes and 55 seconds. You have 4 days, 12 hours, 50 minutes and 48 seconds left until your ban is lifted. Do not attempt to create a secondary account to get around this ban. If we find evidence of you doing so all of your accounts will be terminated.

Reason for ban: Yet another post complaining about me for banning you for posting shit posts. I don't think you're quite getting the message about continuing to complain about bans, nor about posting repetitve shitposts.
– TurkeyOnAStick

were the shitposts in General or Politics? Tom recently put out a thread in Pol that shitposts there were not allowed. Complaining about a ban is also against the rules, but it's clear that if the ban wasn't justified in the first place, Tom will side with his little cronies anyways.

If the "repetitive shitposts" were all in General, then that's legit not a bannable offense in the first place, seeing as everyone and their mother does it to obnoxious lengths and don't get banned for it. Then again, Turkey does have a nasty habit of pettybanning users he doesn't like.

@TailsPrower except I didn't do any of that

*shrugs*

To me it seems like he just picks reasons out of a hat when he takes punitive actions against users on his shit list.Btw do you know what a "car fire argument" is? He banned me for this once and, despite looking it up, I've found no formal definition of the term.

@TailsPrower he constantly abuses his powers, fro and others have no issues with my post, even Tom hasn't had an issue and has reversed several of Turkey fuckers bans

Tom has done no such thing for me. How he can rationalize keeping him on as a moderator despite this guy's inability to keep his ego in check is beyond me. It's weird though, Tom tells us to treat Pol like a separate place from NG but it's kinda contradictory when getting banned there affects everywhere else in the forums.

He's really handled this poorly through and through. Most of all for failing to hold moderators accountable for when they abuse their roles.

@TailsPrower I wish Fro and the others would step up, we've had shitty mods in the past 20 years and they got demodded immediately

it's all one big circlejerk now and no one wants to be the one to rock the boat, even if it's the right thing to do.

@TailsPrower shrapnel was one of the worst mods back in 03

@TailsPrower plus I think Turkey fucker is ass hurt cause he was nominated and won the title of worst mod ever

lmao some of the jannies tried *so desperately* to turn it into a joke nomination so that no one moderator would actually be recognized for being shitty and get their feelings & reputation hurt~

@TailsPrower I nominated Jim for worst mod, asshole mod, prick of a mod and soo on

What does good-faith even mean?

What does bad-faith even mean?

it means whatever he wants it to mean, based on what I've seen. Kinda like his so-called "car fire argument". What does it mean, you ask? Even google couldn't say.
